Peepolykus on the BBC
Tune your dials! Series 2 of our Radio 4 comedy A Trespassers Guide to the Classics goes out in March PLUS Javier’s in Paddington again. Read on…..
Peepolykus is one of the UK’s most exciting theatre companies whose sublimely ridiculous style of anarchic comedy has been compared to The Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton and Monty Python. We are also educators working with schools, universities and businesses; directors working with the likes of Paul Merton and La Neve Bete; writers for radio and TV; physical comedy practitioners and workshop facilitators.
Here’s lots of different resources for you to enjoy, including films of some of our tours to places like Iran and Bangladesh and shorter clips of some of our most loved and most stupid physical routines. Lots more to come from the archive as we uncover all sorts of dusty old video and cassette tapes!
Please check back here for new resources for students and teachers that we are putting together now.
You can also listen to some of our radio stuff on our Soundcloud page – including our work with the late great Rik Mayall and our recent Radio 4 shows – by pressing the button below:
“Word of mouth has been so strong for Baskervilles that the Cincinatti Shakespeare Company has added Saturday matinees to accommodate audience demand for tickets” City Beat, Cincinatti
“…..Baskervilles is instantly funny and stays that way. It owes as much to Monty Python’s Flying Circus as it does to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle” Weekly Volcano, Washington State.
Rights for two of our shows – Hound of the Baskervilles and the Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary – are available for UK and international runs. Please see the information below on our full range of productions. If you would like to make an enquiry clicking here will take you direct to the website of Eleanor Lloyd Productions (ELP) who deal with all our licensing in the UK and abroad. You can also email Tom Powis at ELP here

We finished recording the second series of our radio comedy A Trespassers Guide to the Classics a few weeks ago. The new shows go out on BBC Radio 4 on March 10, 17, 24, 31 March at 11.30am.
“Ingenious in its simplicity, a return of the series that sees the comedy trio Peepolykus assume the roles of minor characters in great works of fiction and derail the plot of the book through their hapless buffoonery”. BBC WEBSITE.
Series 2 sees the trio venture into the world of Shakespeare’s Macbeth (where the witches prophecy gets given to Javier), Bram Stoker’s Dracula (where John becomes convinced that Dracula is a stunt created by Houdini), Edmond Roseanne’s Cyrano de Bergerac (where Richard convinces Cyrano to get a nose job) and Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard (where Javier buys the orchard).
Trespassers sees us working again with long time associate Mr Richard Katz (we made him wear some dreadful pants and a wig in Spyski) who is currently touring with Complicite in The Encounter. Our brilliant Trespassers cast also features Hattie Morahan (off Outnumbered) and David Sterne (the genius Farmer Bishop in The Detectorists). We had a blast! Pictured here are (L to R): Richard Katz, Hattie Morahan, Javier and Emma Harding.
In other news, Javier makes a return as the body of Paddington Bear in Paddington 2. Paddington is animated, see, so Javier does all the bear’s movement.
John has just finished working with circus performers Gemma Palomar and Jose Triguero on their new show Cul de Sac opening at Jackson’s Lane in London on 24th Feb:
And he has just started working with the force of energy and delightful lunacy that is Le Nave Bete. John directs the Betes new show, ‘Dracula: The Bloody Truth’. Here’s the tour dates and pics and all that right here They are, like, proper funny, and a joy to work with.
